Seula Yi is a young artist from Seoul who enjoys drawing cities and wide spaces. Whether with gouache paint, watercolours or digitally, she tenderly transposes moments from her daily life, travel memories, intimate occasions…
Whether bathed in daylight or depicted at night time, Seula’s cityscapes are full of poetry: staggering perspectives, infinite skies, sun-kissed building facades, enhanced by her playful use of light and shade. At night, the buildings turn into golden fairy light displays, where we can imagine the multitude of lives unfolding behind each window, as well as the solitude one might feel within the stacked flats. Her delicate colour palette evokes fleeting moments, dreams and melancholic joy.
Seula has collaborated in South Korea for numerous brands such as L’Occitane en Provence, LG, Burt’s bees, CJ E&M, she has created cinema posters, and had worked for television (TvN’s Because This is My First Life, CJ E&M media group, channel CGV’s jingle), for Naver (South Korea’s main internet browser), as well as for the book and music industries.
