Marie Guillard

Marie Guillard is an illustrator from Bordeaux based in Paris. Her influences, connected to the graphic culture she developed in Art School (Olivier de Serres in Paris and Arts Décoratifs in Strasburg), can be felt in her work that references Matisse’s collages as well as Martin Parr’s satirical and anthropological photographs. Realism is not at the centre of Marie’s work, she prefers instead exploring distorted realities, perspectives and proportions and depicting visual flaws – a foot in the foreground can appear excessively large or a car can drive through the desert, without a windscreen. Her work evokes memory-like images where each scene seems to come out of a dream and contributes to a poetic and effective narrative. A sensual and timeless atmosphere is embedded in her images which draw us in and trap us in their audacious compositions.

Marie has collaborated with Gucci, clothing brands such as Sézanne and Maisons 123, podcasts producers at Louie Media and with press editions at The New York Times and Télérama.
