Lola Penicaud is a graduate from the Emile Cohl school in Lyon and a winner of the 2023’s ‘Youth Talent Prize’ awarded by ‘Les Agents Associés.’ Lola has spent a lot of her creative energy and time working on cartoons (notably, ‘Les Cahiers d’Esther’ and ‘Billy le hamster cowboy’ in 2024) and she is currently focusing solely on illustration work (commissions, press, exhibitions and publishing projects).
Her style marvelously captures bodily movements as part of consistently poetic and graceful compositions. Her work is filled with the presence of striking, powerful and universal characters, pictured in majestical settings such as her recognisable mountainscapes. Through her creative endeavours, she tells stories – informed by her interest in human and social sciences and her love for the world of dreams and deep imagination. In 2022, Lola opened a community space in the Jura region of France, offering art classes and access to a screen-printing workshop.
She was named ‘Artist to Watch’ by Beaux-Arts Magazine’ in November 2023.
